Bath Remodel Update

We're making progress but I have to say I'm starting to get a little impatient, we are now in the fourth week and still have lots to do it seems....

Today the tiling was finished in the shower and floors but they still have to grout everything.  Though I have to say I looooove how it's turning out.  Love the marble shower which goes all the way to the ceiling and the shower floors with the different marble pattern and the slate floors are all coming together!

Pleasanton Antiques Fair

I've been meaning to post these pictures from the antique fair for a while now.  I could spend days in fairs like these, I just love them!  Here are just some of my favorite things.

Love this coffee table, but definitely not meant for someone who has kids to have around the house.

This would be adorable in a kids room!

Here is my little helper!

Can't wait till the next one comes around!

Paint Finishes

Here is a quick guide to what type of paint finish to use when painting rooms around the house.  This definitely comes in handy for me!

Bath Remodel

Hope everyone is having a great new year.  We have finally started to remodel the bathroom in the master bedroom.  Hopefully it will be done before this baby gets here.  As always there are "surprises" and extra costs when they open up all the walls.  We've already had some unexpected electrical and vent pipe relocation costs which weren't' part of the original budget but we're getting through it and I can't wait till its all done.  I have never posted pictures of what it looked like before, it's definitely not a "master bathroom" by any means, but here it is, you can see how small it is and it hasn't been touched since the 70's except for the window which were all updated throughout the house.

Our awful shower, poor Tim is so much taller than that shower head he had to duck every time to wash his hair.  Also the dropped ceiling is gone and we're planning on having a rain shower up there as well as the regular shower head and a handheld shower.

Day 1:  we are extending the bathroom a little to the left, where an old vanity used to be right outside of the bathroom.

Day 2: more demo, removing frames.

Where the new shower will be.  There used to be a closet next to the shower which made the shower extra small, but we took that out and now it will be  long and tall.

Kauai, Hawaii 2014

Been a while since I posted anything, but between working full time, being pregnant and living with a 4 year old it's hard to find even 5 minutes of free time.  So going back to October 1, here are some pictures from our yearly Hawaii vacation.  It feels like its been forever since we were there!

On our first night, we went out to dinner and opened the envelope the Doctor had given us revealing the gender of baby #2.

And it's another boy! haha

Next day, we're off to enjoy the sunshine!  All day long!  We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Kauai and I have to say, the grounds are beautiful and the lagoon just perfect for Carter.

Hanging out in the terrace, me drinking lots of water and Tim drinking lots of Mai Tai's.

When we needed a break, we'd drive up to Old Town Koloa.  A cute little town with lots of shops!

Beach life, that's the life....we had a great time, can't wait to go back soon!

Project Master Bath

One year into this house and I am so excited to finally be getting our master bath remodeled.  Well, I wouldn’t really call it a master bath, there’s nothing master about it.  It’s a tiny box with a tiny shower, a toilet and sink.  But it hasn’t been renovated since this house was built in the 60s I think, except for the floors.  We are currently interviewing contractors and thankfully, Tim is leaving this all up to me!  Usually he has such high design opinions but not this time.  I’m picking everything out on my own and I couldn’t be happier!  So much easier to get stuff done when you don’t have to compromise!  So here’s what I've picked!
Marble shower with a glass divider.  Our shower will be a bit smaller than this one and with no window, obviously:

I'm thinking this pattern of marble for the bottom of the shower floor so that not everything is rectangular shaped marble:

White vanity with marble top (unfortunately, we can't fit a double sink in our bathroom) and Kensington mirror from Pottery Barn:

A small light above the mirror such as this one:
A natural stone tile floor, that makes a smooth transition from the current tile throughout the house to the bathroom, which I haven't picked out yet.

I’m sticking with all white, of course, to make the little space seem a bit bigger and with the cottage look to fit the current style of the home.  We will be making the bath just a bit bigger by removing a small vanity with a mirror that’s just outside of it.  I currently use it for putting on makeup but I'd rather get rid of it use the extra space.
Stay tuned for before and after pictures!  I don't think I've ever taken a picture of how the bathroom currently looks.

Disneyland 2014

We went on a mini vacation this past weekend and drove down to LA and Disneyland.  We had the best time.  We spent one day in Manhattan Beach, our old neighborhood. And the next two days in Disney and California Adventure, Carter loved seeing all of his favorite characters, Mickey, Woody from Toy Story and also loved going on all of the rides....twice.

The next morning, we were ready to meet Mickey!

So much to see!

My friend Erica works at Disney Studios as a publicist and she was kind enough to come with us, so we got all the benefits of having a Disney employee with us!  Her husband Sean and Tim have been friends since they were 6 years old.  They never thought they would be taking their kids to Disneyland together all these years later.

Carter was over the moon as soon as he saw Lighting McQueen pull up and he knew he was going to ride in it!  This was the perfect age to take him as he was tall enough to go on all of the rides!  (thank goodness for shoe inserts!!!)

Taking a break in Radiator Springs.

Disney is such a magical place, just look at Carters face!  The few days when we all forgot about life and our problems...

The long ride home after a weekend full of fun!

It was a fun but exhausting 2 days walking around in 100 degree weather all day from 8am-11pm, but it was well worth it.  I certainly have the post vacation now we just have to wait a few more weeks and we're off to Hawaii!
